Lameque 2011
September 11, 2011 | Filed Under Equine, Shoots | 2 Comments
10 sessions, 3 days. Bright sun, cloud, pouring rain, bugs, wind, you name it, Lameque throws it at me. But I love it. These are some of my favourite equine shoots I’ve ever done. Editing these shots I burst out crying probably 4 or 5 times. And I took them! Thank you ladies for letting me capture these memories for you and your families. And Sylvette, thank you so much for inviting me up once again.

2010 in Review – Moncton Photographer

Well, we all blinked and it’s now 2011. Amazing how that happens so fast isn’t it. 365 days sounds like a huge amount of time. Remembering back to January of last year is like remember decades ago, and at the same time feels like it was just last week.
Every year in review post on every blog has something along the lines of “What a crazy year!” or “Wow so much has happened”. I didn’t want to be that blog, but really every year is that crazy. And every year, that much happens.
Major happenings of 2010? We lost my grandmother early in the year, and two amazing pets at the end of the year. I quit my job, and went full time Scuffed Boots. I booked, and shot, my first “real wedding”, and then shot a second one. I have 5 weddings booked for next year, when this time last year I had 1 going into 2010. I went through a rough patch in my personal life, and then recovered. I attended two amazing events, both the Gala Expo and the Equine Review, and already have plans in place for this year, AND January Thaw. I completely re-modeled my living quarters into what is now lovingly referred to as, “The Boffice”. (boffice – shared living space of a bedroom and an office, uniquely decorated in a modern rustic style.) I learned how fast you can screw up a good thing. And I also learned how great and understanding people can be. And the most major happening of 2010? I fell in love with this job.
Thank you to every client, every model, every fan that’s clicked “i like this”, every show groom, every couple, every blog reader, and every commentor. I dunno what I could have done with each and everyone of you. Thank you, x1,000,000.
I’ve collected a bunch of images from all through 2010. Some I’ve blogged, some I haven’t. Some are work work, and some a personal photos. But this was my year, in a blog post, celebrating Scuffed Boots Photography.
<3 Bring on 2011.
PS – These aren’t in any particular order. Just the way the cards fell on the table. :)

A Review of Lameque

I have a hard time picking favourite things. Favourite foods, favourite drinks, favourite colours, pretty much anything that you can pick as a favourite, I probably haven’t. Another “thing” this affects, are the favourite images in my portfolio. If any of you have clicked on that little link above that says Portfolio, you may notice I haven’t updated it since, just before January Thaw 2009. Which is now, a year and 3/4 a go? Ridiculous, I know. But I have a hard time picking my favourites. If it was up to me, every blog post would have 50+ images in it, however that’s a little unrealistic, considering how long it would take to load. So last night when I was picking my favourite images from the Lameque NB Clinic, I ended up with 40. And have since cut it down to 18, by only picking landscape oriented photos.
Lameque was something I’d never experienced before. 30+ degree heat, 2.5 days, 14 shoots, 21 hours of shooting, 25 people, 17 horses, 2 ponies, 3 dogs, 3 goats, 2 pigs and one miniature donkey = too many pictures to even count. And then to pick favourites from each shoot, well that’s ridiculous. But I did it, and now I’m sharing them with you.
Sylvette Theriault invites up Holly MacDonald of Meadow Pond Stables & Holli Murphy of Equiworks, and a photographer, every summer to her stable in Lameque, NB. It is one of the coolest experiences ever. I was lucky enough to be the chosen photographer this summer, and had a blast meeting pretty much an entire equine community I hadn’t had a chance to work with before. I’m am really happy with the photos I took for the clinic attendees, despite the odds working against me (heat, light and bugs!). This is a real challenge for any photographer, and I’m sooo happy it all turned out so great. Thanks again to Sylvette and her crew for inviting me up and housing me. It was awesome working with you. And now, those tediously picked favourites!

Sessions: Albro Creek Farm
October 26, 2009 | Filed Under Equine, Shoots | 2 Comments
So, I can’t really call this post a Sneak Peak as some of these have been on Facebook for a while! But I just can’t help but show off some of these pictures I took at Albro Creek Farm, on my trip to Nova Scotia to see Danique Fisher of Century Classic Photography!
I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer and her super sweet horse, Whitney. These two are SO close, it’s like the ultimate horse and rider relationship. They are so cute!
Albro Creek is one of the most amazing stables I’ve ever been to. The horses, the grounds, and the people!! Everything was soo great! Thanks so much to Jenn for having us, and for Danique for introductions and support!
