Andrew and Lacey – Sackville Wedding

“We want some pictures with the cows in the background.” Me. Smitten. That’s all Lacey and Andrew had to say. I’ve been waiting for the day when I’d have a real farm wedding. On a farm, outdoor, the chance it may downpour right during the ceremony but it doesn’t and you get gorgeous pictures with no bright sun kind of real farm wedding. And with cows. And I got it.
And not only did I get the on the farm ceremony, but a reception at the Music Barn, which is by far my favourite venue to date. Love!
Philip of Philip Boudreau Photography second shot for me for this wedding, so a few of his shots are in here too. Andrew and Lacey thank you so much for letting us join your day. What a day it was! Congratulations to the both of you and all the best!

Andrew and Lacey opted to do a First Look before their ceremony. Great way to capture the first time the bride and groom see each other.

Moncton Wedding Photography – Abril & Ian

Abril & Ian contacted me about a month before there wedding. Yup, a month. Now, on average, my brides and grooms contact me about 6 – 8 months in advance. So I didn’t really know what to expect when I showed up to the Mapleton Park Rotary Lodge, on October 8, 2010. But Abril and Ian were the most relaxed couple I’ve ever photographed. Which was surprising, if you knew the details. Not only was most of the wedding planned from across the country, but Abril’s dress didn’t even arrive in Moncton until the day before the ceremony. Yes ladies, the day before. But the ceremony went off without a hitch, ending with the longest and sweetest kiss I’ve ever seen. Note to all brides and grooms, always kiss longer then what seems appropriate. It makes awesome pictures.
Abril and Ian, thanks so much for letting me capture your day. Good luck on your new life together on the west coast. <3 xox

2010 in Review – Moncton Photographer

Well, we all blinked and it’s now 2011. Amazing how that happens so fast isn’t it. 365 days sounds like a huge amount of time. Remembering back to January of last year is like remember decades ago, and at the same time feels like it was just last week.
Every year in review post on every blog has something along the lines of “What a crazy year!” or “Wow so much has happened”. I didn’t want to be that blog, but really every year is that crazy. And every year, that much happens.
Major happenings of 2010? We lost my grandmother early in the year, and two amazing pets at the end of the year. I quit my job, and went full time Scuffed Boots. I booked, and shot, my first “real wedding”, and then shot a second one. I have 5 weddings booked for next year, when this time last year I had 1 going into 2010. I went through a rough patch in my personal life, and then recovered. I attended two amazing events, both the Gala Expo and the Equine Review, and already have plans in place for this year, AND January Thaw. I completely re-modeled my living quarters into what is now lovingly referred to as, “The Boffice”. (boffice – shared living space of a bedroom and an office, uniquely decorated in a modern rustic style.) I learned how fast you can screw up a good thing. And I also learned how great and understanding people can be. And the most major happening of 2010? I fell in love with this job.
Thank you to every client, every model, every fan that’s clicked “i like this”, every show groom, every couple, every blog reader, and every commentor. I dunno what I could have done with each and everyone of you. Thank you, x1,000,000.
I’ve collected a bunch of images from all through 2010. Some I’ve blogged, some I haven’t. Some are work work, and some a personal photos. But this was my year, in a blog post, celebrating Scuffed Boots Photography.
<3 Bring on 2011.
PS – These aren’t in any particular order. Just the way the cards fell on the table. :)

Moncton Wedding – Chris & Katie

“A wet knot is harder to untie than a dry one.” I had heard that quote earlier this year about weddings that happen on rainy days. I love the quote, but was secretly hoping I’d never have to use it. However, just my luck the wedding that I had been looking forward to for months, (see Katie & Chris’s Engagement Session) had forecasts of not only rain, but wind too. I was secretly hoping that the weatherman was wrong.
October 16, 2010 started with an optimistic, overcast but no rain morning. I was ecstatic. I was so hoping for Katie and Chris’s sake that the rain would hold off just until we were done their portraits. But as I was driving to Katie’s parents house, the rain started. And for the rest of the day it didn’t stop, but it didn’t really seem to matter. Once the two of them saw each other during their first look on the patio of the Mapleton Park Rotary Lodge, I’m sure a full blown hurricane could have blown in and it wouldn’t have changed how calm (but excited!) they both were.
Chris and Katie rocked their portraits. We passed umbrellas back and forth, using the break in the rain for pics without umbrellas, and just kept shooting with them when it was back. No one worried about mud on clothes or their hair getting wet, they just enjoyed the day. It was also a unique opportunity for me to photograph two couples, as Katie’s maid of honour, Justine, and Chris’s best man, David are also a couple. So no awkward bridal party shots either. Bonus!
Katie and Chris, you two are a stunning couple. It’s been such a pleasure to work with you and your families this year. I wish you both nothing but the best with your future, as newly weds and new home owners. And always remember how much better a wet knot is.
