Sharilyn – Prom

July 13, 2010 | Filed Under Portraits, Shoots

I love proms. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned that before in previous posts. It’s like the best bits of a wedding, but in technicolor. It’s only be 5 years since my prom, but man the colours and dresses the girls wear now are CRAZY! Where’s that time machine?? I wanna go again! But seriously, prom was one of my favourite events in high school, and I even had a custom made dress. I had seen the color scheme of orange and pink in a prom magazine and KNEW I wanted it. And yes, that’s where the colors for Scuffed Boots came from! :)

But this dress, ladies and gentlemen, was like nothing I’ve ever seen before at a prom. Let me introduce you to Miss Sharilyn, her boyfriend Chad, and her dress. If you’ve read my posts about Justine and Nathan’s wedding and engagement session, you know that I grew up with her in church. Well it’s the same with Sharilyn. I’ve watched her grow up from just a kid, and was stunned when I met her and her family at Victoria Park to capture her before prom. I seriously couldn’t believe it was the same girl that I remember singing on the church stage 5 years ago. Man time flies. Her dress was a gorgeous mix or turquoise and beading and bows and color! All mixed into one. I was honestly blown away. And aren’t her nieces sweet? I had to throw them in this blog too!

Sharilyn you looked stunning, and I wish you only the best as you’ve now graduated and you’ll be heading off to Crandall University in the fall. You looked stunning and so grown up. And I still can’t get over that dress!

That’s what makes you a professional, Jill, to capture all that color so beautifully in a picture. Wonderful.
